US extends veto to drone maker DJI and other companies

Today is really being a Black Friday for many companies, which from tomorrow will not be able to market their products and services throughout the United States, as the United States Department of Commerce understands that there have been connections with the Chinese government, Especially highlighting the well-known drone manufacturer DJI, being one of the 77 new companies that have just joined the so-called “Entity List”.

It is the same blacklist that the popular manufacturer of mobile phones and other electronic devices Huawei is also on, which is giving so many headaches, although luckily, the company is managing to get ahead in a stronger way.

Talking about DJI, for said department, it is more a question of human rights, understanding that the popular drone manufacturer supplied drones to the Chinese government in 2017 to monitor the Uighurs in Xinjiang province, considering it as a participating party against some minorities.

DJI accompanies Huawei and many other companies on the Entity List

Let us remember that in the case of Huawei, it was rather a matter of national security, understanding that there are relations with the Chinese government to carry out acts of espionage on citizens through electronic devices, whose pressures have even led which European territories have chosen veto 5G equipment, with plans to replace existing Huawei 5G equipment.

Also on the list is the chipmaker SMIC, which is also a collaborating company with Huawei. Be that as it may, for DJI it will be quite an important setback, since these holidays are a time when many products are usually bought to give as gifts, the company having in its portfolio a wide variety of drone models and accessories, but also models of Image stabilizers that allow to achieve stable video recordings, with fairly smooth and precise movements.

Without a clear future for companies banned in the United States

For now, DJI has not wanted to offer a statement in this regard. The ban goes into effect tomorrow, and it so happens that it also comes at a time when the presidency in the United States is about to change.

We do not know at this time whether Joe Biden will continue to maintain current veto policies.
