While waiting for the official launch of Google TV, Android TV is offering a new interface via its latest update.
Within a few years, Android TV should give way to Google TV, the new operating system designed by Google for smart TVs. Introduced at the end of last year, the OS received a lot of pride in CES 2021, which took place entirely online for its last edition. It is already available on the new generation of Chromecast marketed by the American company. Until Android TV finally gives way to its successor, the interface benefits from a major update, first step in its transition to Google TV. The objective ensures the Mountain View firm: to provide Android TV with certain features which will subsequently facilitate the transition to Google TV.
New home page
First notable change on the interface of Android TV, the home page, which offers a complete overhaul to follow that of Google TV. There is in particular a new Discover tab, intended to highlight the latest news deemed relevant by the algorithm according to your tastes and your subscriptions. A third tab called Apps provides access to all the applications installed on the TV, and access the Google PlayStore. An addition that stands out, however, from the Google TV interface, where the PlayStore is directly integrated into the general interface.
For the moment available in a few countries including France, Australia, Canada, Germany and the United States, this important update of Android TV should subsequently be deployed on the rest of the compatible devices.
