Samsung initially embarked on the world of smart watches with Android Wear, the predecessor of what it is today Wear OS. However, over the years they jumped from that operating system to Tizen, your own platform.
During the last time, the system developed by Google has grown to the point of once again capturing the attention of the South Korean company, who would be considering working again with this alternative for their smart watches.
A rumor that takes force
The idea of a new Galaxy Watch with Wear OS, the adaptation of Android for smart watches, is not something new. This is a rumor that has circulated back and forth for the past few years. However, the situation is different now.

The repercussion of this comment, even reaching echoes in the specialized press, is due to the fact that Ice Universe, a recognized leaker and with a base that supports it in the middle, launched the first comment a few days ago, which was later developed by other dedicated portals, such as SamMobile.
In the absence of an official announcement, at the moment some comments have emerged about the realization of this eventual transition of operating system during this same year. Would two models, belonging to the Galaxy Active category, which would debut the return of Android to Samsung watches,
Time made a difference with hardware and software
The decision to move from Android Wear to Tizen in 2014 was not based solely on the idea of creating an interconnected ecosystem between all Samsung devices, from gadgets to household appliances. Also, performance weaknesses motivated the search for a new horizon.
The picture with Tizen promised great improvements, but they were not really noticed. Devices with more than one generation difference, present minimal differences in design and performance in their system. In addition, certain functions, such as the electrocardiogram integrated in the Galaxy Watch Active 2 of 2019, have had a very slow deployment, not being available yet in several regions where the device was commercially distributed.
Today, Wear OS can boast a more robust and fluid proposal thanks to the development of recent years. There are aspects in which the differences are really notable between one operating system and another, such as the offer of third-party applications, one of the main weaknesses of Tizen, to which Android is better presented.
The Apple Watch currently dominates the market of smart watches. If this movement takes place, the scenario could be altered, promoting the presence of Android, through its Wear OS variant, in this market that is increasingly gaining presence and incidentally, also position Samsung in a more competitive position within the range of smartwatches.
