The last State of Play was held this Thursday, February 25 at 11 p.m. and Sony revealed new information about 10 games that will soon be released on PS5 and PS4.
The State of Play lasted about thirty minutes during which Sony revealed the release dates of the games. Kena Bridge of Spirits et Oddworld Soulstorm, among others. Kena will come out August 24, 2021 on PS4 and PS5. A promising trailer has been unveiled in which we discover a magical world in which humans and spirits mingle.
Oddworld Soulstorm has a release date set at April 6th. A new trailer for the game as well as gameplay images were also unveiled. Abe is the protagonist and he must succeed in saving a thousand of his friends who are treated like slaves. It was also specified that with the DualSense of the PS5, it will be possible to feel Abe’s heartbeat especially during intense sequences.
Among the next games that will land on PS5 this year, we can also mention Final Fantasy VII remake. The game has been completely optimized with improved lighting, shadows, and load times which will be significantly reduced. The next-gen update will be free for those who own the title on PS4. Then there was a glimpse of Crash Bandicoot 4 : It’s About Time on PS5. The game will land on the latest generation console from March 12th. It will benefit from the haptic feedback of the DualSense, 4K resolution and 60 fps, as well as 3D audio and reduced load times. Obviously, the next-gen update for anyone who already owns the game on PS4 will be free, and the save transfer will also be available. Good news if you don’t want to start all over again. As for the gameplay, Sony also revealed a bit about the game. Returnal, which is scheduled for release on April 30th.
The game Knockout City, which had been unveiled during the last Nintendo Direct, also had the right to a new gameplay session as well as announcements regarding its compatibility with crossplay, and a beta that should arrive soon. The game’s release date is still scheduled for May 21, just like for Deathloop, including a gameplay titled “Deja Vu” was also unveiled.
The surprise of this State of Play is the game SIFU, a new third-person fighting game from the studio Sloclap. It is the studio that is behind the game Absolver. SIFU was revealed in a trailer, where we see a young man fighting against enemies but with one advantage: he has a collar that allows him to resurrect if he ever dies. But this advantage comes at a price that the student will have to pay with his youth. Indeed, each time he uses his power, he ages more and more. SIFU does not yet have a release date but it will arrive this year on PS5.
Another game has also been unveiled and it is about Solar Ash, dont the planned release date in June 2021 had fled a few weeks before. So far, no official date has been confirmed for this game. Five Nights at Freddy’s which made an appearance during the State of Play but for which no release date has been revealed.
