Last December, the current Fire TV devices (Fire TV Stick 3rd Gen & Fire TV Stick Lite) received a new interface. The roll-out has now also begun for older generations of Fire TVs.
Older devices get the new Fire TV surface
According to Amazon, the update to the user interface is the largest of its kind to date. It now also includes the older Fire TVs (Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube and Fire TV 3rd Gen.). Support for the Fire TV Stick 2nd Gen. and Fire TV Smart will follow later this year.
Amazon itself formulates the innovations in their press release as follows:
“The new Fire TV interface is the biggest update to the Fire TV experience yet. It includes profiles, a simplified menu bar and the ability to pin favorite apps directly to the ribbon. If you scroll over the app symbol of compatible apps in the menu bar, you also get a preview of the app content and can start playback directly – without opening the app. Categories such as films, series or children and family as well as other filter options help you find and discover content. “
