Finally has Xiaomi the long awaited Mi 11 Ultra reveals that, in addition to the camera, one of the highlights of the phone is a small second screen on the back. This is placed right next to the camera and can be used for the following purposes:
- Is the mobile phone with the display facing down on the table. The screen on the back can show the time, date and incoming calls and notifications. According to Xiaomi, the screen is also touch sensitive. So you can also take calls directly from the rear display.
- When charging, the display on the back shows the current charge level.
- You can use the display on the back as a viewfinder for the camera. So you can take selfies with the main camera.
- If the battery level drops to 10 percent, you can put the Mi 11 Ultra in “Extreme Mode”. Then only the display on the back is active. But it only shows you the time and allows you to make or receive calls and to make an emergency call. According to Xiaomi, the phone should be able to last up to 55 hours in this mode.
The idea of a second screen on the back is not entirely new. The Yota Phone 2013 already offered an e-ink screen on the back, which offered similar features, but could not function as a camera viewfinder.
