Samsung’s “clamshell” folding smartphone should soon be entitled to a successor, and now a leak tells us a little more about it.
In early 2020, Samsung launched its second folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip, with a concept very different from the Galaxy Fold and its successor, the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The Z Flip opts in fact for a traditional smartphone format, whose screen is able to fold up on itself to save space in the pocket, a bit like an old flip phone. And if the Galaxy Z Flip first of the name was already a real success, the eyes are now on its successor: le Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Why go directly to number 3 and not to 2? We don’t know yet, but it is in any case the name that is suggested in this new leak signed @TheGalox_. He not only unveiled some images of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but also gives us to see what akin to official promotional images on the run. The leaker has compiled them in this video.
Admittedly, these images are of very poor quality, but on the other hand, they give us some crisp information about this future folding smartphone. Already, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 appears thinner than its predecessor when folded, with a redesigned hinge. Above all, it is its external display that would offer welcome improvements.
The Z Flip indeed incorporates a small secondary panel that lights up when folded. On the first generation, this screen measures 1.06 inches and simply allows access to essential information such as the time, for example. On this new iteration, this screen should be enlarged, which would allow full notifications to be displayed.
Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 would integrate a new photo unit with two sensors. Finally, we also note the appearance of new colors – purple, white, beige and green – and a new Gorilla Glass Victus.
For now, this is only a leak, and it will therefore be necessary to wait for the launch of this smartphone to confirm or not these new features. The latest news is that the next Galaxy Z Flip could launch at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, in July.
