Clearly, Netflix does not stop eyeing the success of video games to enrich its catalog. In a press release, the firm announces the imminent arrival of Arcane, a series inspired by the universe of League of Legends, or LOL for insiders
Riot Games is going to make a foray into the small skylight. The editor behind Valuing or Legends of Runeterra will adapt its biggest hit for Netflix. The American company has joined forces with the platform for the development of a series devoted to the universe of League of Legends, his biggest success. Shauna Spenley, Director of Entertainment at Riot Games was delighted with this association.
“Arcane was created as a love letter to our players and our fans, who always ask us for more cinematic experiences to take them deep into our universe and our League of Legends champions. Netflix, with its incredible international brand and its taste for quality productions, is the perfect partner to help us bring Arcane to our players around the world. “
Made in France animation
The animated production will immerse us in the utopian region of Piltover and the Zaun’s oppressed lowlands. The plot will follow the origins of two iconic video game champions, and the power that separates them. The rest of the plot is still a secret, but Netflix should tell us more in the coming months. On the other hand, we know that the animation of this first season was entrusted to a French studio: Fortiche Productions. Moreover, the platform has shared the first visuals and it is clear that it is quite promising.
It remains to be seen if the many fans of the license will appreciate this first series derived from the universe. To find out, you will have to wait until next fall, period to which the series should be added to the platform catalog. In the meantime, Netflix and Riot Games gave us something to wait for, by revealing the first teaser (epileptic) from the series on YouTube (above).
