Amazon has been in the press several times regarding data protection at Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa. Now there are probably some cases in which the voice recordings were recorded despite the data protection settings on Amazon Alexa.
Privacy settings for voice recordings on Amazon Alexa
For some time now, it has actually been possible to regulate precisely whether Amazon is allowed to evaluate the voice recordings and how long they should be stored. To increase user trust, Amazon even had one in 2019 own page for data protection around Amazon Alexa created.
Now Caschy reports from a reader that precisely these settings do not work for everyone. Amazon Support has probably also confirmed the problem to this reader, which probably affects some people. With the addition that this bug will be fixed soon.
To check your settings and voice recordings go to Alexa App -> Settings -> Alexa privacy -> Manage your Alexa data -> „Select how long you want recordings to be kept“-> On”Do not save recordings“Press -> to save.
How are your privacy settings? Have you banned everything or do you care relatively little whether Amazon stores and evaluates Alexa’s voice recordings? Feel free to write it to us in the comments.
