WiZ is also expanding its connectivity to include the uniform Matter standard from September 2021. WiZ is a brand from Signify – the mother of Philips Hue. We had already reported that the Philips Hue products get the corresponding update very quickly for Matter to be obtained.
New WiZ products will receive Matter compatibility from September
In a press release, WiZ says that Matter-capable products from WiZ will be available from September 2021. Matter, formerly known as Project CHIP (Connected Home over IP), describes a new, cross-industry, uniform open source technology that enables seamless interaction of smart home devices and was approved on May 11 by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance). The Matter-capable new products from WiZ will be available in stores from September 2021.
WiZ was the first provider of intelligent lighting to use both WiFi and Bluetooth to simplify coupling with devices and improve networking. The smart lighting brand is already making the necessary changes to their new products to ensure they are ready for a software upgrade when the Connectivity Standards Alliance launches Matter.
The manufacturer WiZ assumes that its entire product portfolio, including existing lamps, light strips, spots, lights and other devices, will bear the Matter seal of approval on the packaging from the first half of 2022 and will be compatible with Matter ex works.
