Valheim exceeds 6.8 million units sold

The game has far exceeded the expectations of its small team of developers, and becomes its biggest hit of 2020.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a game that has been a huge success. It is Valheim, survival game taking place in the Viking period. Last February, the game hit 3 million downloads, even though it was still in early access on Steam. Embracer Group, which just released its financial statement report for fiscal year 2020, expects the game’s success to not come down anytime soon and cause an additional million downloads by the end of the year. current quarter, ending June 30.

However, Valheim is not the only title that counted in the publisher’s balance sheet. Indeed, he counts among his productions the game Bob l’Eponge : Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, which was sold at 2 million units, and Destroy All Humans of which one million units were also sold. It has therefore been a very prolific year for Embracer Group as sales rose 72% from the previous year. Most of the work, however, falls to Valheim, which helped to increase sales during the last quarter (January to the end of March) by 80% compared to 2019.

An update on the way?

As one of the most played games on Steam, Valheim enough to build a solid base of players. Most of them are waiting for the next big update of the game, about which we have little information. In terms of content, the developers have only revealed a few very vague images. We do not know the release date of this update, knowing that the studio has explained that they want to take their time to release it in due form. The same goes for the title’s release from its early access format, which will remain in place for an indefinite period of time.
