The pandemic has revived teleworking and videoconferencing meetings. But even if the end of the tunnel is near, Microsoft predicts that the changes during the health crisis will last and that communications in the world of work will become hybrid.
Microsoft’s vision for the future of the working world is hybrid, describes Satya Nadella, the group’s boss. ” Hybrid work represents the biggest change in the way of working of our generation He writes. ” And this will require a new operating model for people, places and processes ».
Big screen and better microphones
According to Microsoft’s observations, even if the pandemic subsides, people will still want to continue to benefit from more flexible remote working opportunities. Some have become common in several sectors of activity, but at the same time employees want more options to collaborate face-to-face.
The solution, for the publisher of Windows, is a more advanced communication system that blurs the lines between the people who are in the room and those who intervene remotely. No more video thumbnails with 720p cameras! Microsoft imagines a much larger screen and spatial audio to better distinguish who is speaking.
Microsoft is therefore improving its Teams Rooms offer, with actually larger screens, which can even be replaced by one or more projectors. One of the goals of the company is to display the remote participants “real size”, which will give the feeling of a greater presence in the room. On the audio side, Microsoft plans to integrate microphones in the ceiling to help reduce background noise and improve the quality of voice broadcast.
All interested companies will nevertheless have to dedicate a room to this equipment, and invest a certain amount: the simplest Teams Rooms system already represents a four-digit check.
