The South Korean boyband has just broken its own record, making its new single Butter the most viewed video in 24 hours on the platform.
It’s a record that could become routine for Beyond The Sun. The most popular K-pop group of recent years unveiled their new single last year Dynamite, their first song performed entirely in English. At the time, the boysband beat the record for most viewed video in 24 hours on YouTube with 101.1 million views. This year, history is repeating itself, as almost a year later, the South Korean group broke their own record again, this time with their new single Butter, released on May 21, 2021.
For their second single recorded in English, BTS has accumulated nearly 112.8 million views, just 24 hours after it went live. Released on Friday, May 21, the video now has more than 180 million views according to YouTube. The boysband also took the opportunity to break a new record, with 3.9 million fans connected simultaneously when uploading the clip to find out Butter live. Just two hours after its release, the single topped US iTunes sales reports the site Variety.
A first live performance at the Billboard Music Awards
It’s Saturday, May 23, during the Billboard Music Awards that BTS performed for the first time on stage Butter. The group was nominated for Best Group, Best Selling, Best Selling Song (for Dynamite) and People’s Choice. A full box for the seven South Korean singers, who were sacred on all of these categories, ahead of some big names in music like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and even AC / DC (nominated in the Best Group category).
