It’s been two years since Fossil introduced its Gen 5. The smartwatch is now receiving an LTE upgrade.
Fossil Gen 5 LTE – remake of an “old” model
The watch manufacturer is donating its smartwatch, which has been on the market for a while, an LTE update for the new edition. Using eSIM, the wearable can be used independently without a connected smartphone. Fossil uses Vodafone’s OneNumber program for this.
Like the Gen 5, the new edition will be delivered with Google WearOS. Although this enables use on both Android and iOS, the new LTE function is not available to users of the Apple system.
The new Fossil Gen 5 LTE is one millimeter larger in diameter and case height than the Gen 5 and equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 3100, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. It has a 1.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels and a pixel density of 328 ppi. It is waterproof to 3 ATM, has a loudspeaker and a microphone and is equipped with an accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light sensor, compass, gyroscope, infrared radiation radiating away from the body and PPG heart rate.
The Fossil Gen 5 LTE is available at a price of € 369 in black and pink.
