Jeff Bezos will be on board of Blue Origin’s first manned flight

The American billionaire and Amazon founder has confirmed his presence aboard the first tourist flight run by his company Blue Origin next month.

With this announcement, Jeff Bezos undoubtedly hopes to catch his competitor Elon Musk by surprise, while still accelerating the space tourism race. On July 20, Blue Origin, the aerospace company of the founder of Amazon, aimed to launch its first manned flight into space. On the passenger side, a first place had already been auction, for a price that already peaks at more than $ 3.5 million. To this lucky man, we will now have to add two additional passengers: Jeff Bezos and his brother, Mark. On Instagram, the businessman explained: “Since the age of five, I have dreamed of traveling in space. On July 20, I will be making this trip with my brother. The greatest of adventures, with my best friend ”.

A first for Blue Origin

Scheduled for July 20, this flight will be Blue Origin’s first real tourist mission. An event which should therefore be scrutinized with the greatest attention, especially since until now, the American company has never performed a manned test flight. The capsule and rocket, on the other hand, have already proven their worth in the field, with no less than 15 flights made since 2015.

With this historic participation in the first manned flight of his company Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos is undoubtedly preparing to make history, while asserting a little more his desire to detach himself from the rest of his activities in order to devote himself fully to the space exploration. Remember that the businessman will officially step down as CEO of Amazon on July 5, to make way for Andy Jassy, currently the head of AWS (Amazon Web Services).
