That was a few months ago Project guacamole popped up, which has now found its way into the Google Assistant and is just waiting to be activated. With the “Voice Shortcuts”, certain actions can be instructed without the trigger word “Hey Google”. Now it is in the starting blocks.
Hey Google without Hey Google
We already had about it in April reportedthat the voice shortcuts are coming that make it superfluous to use the trigger “Hey Google” for certain actions. Regardless of whether Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant – both have one thing in common, you always had to say the trigger word “Alexa” or “Hey Google” in order to be able to give a command. However, Google would like to change that for some commands with the “Voice Shortcuts” in the future.
Now this function has found its way into the Google Assistant and is just waiting to be activated. The feature can then be used to call up small standard things without the trigger word, for example alarm clocks, timers or calls. The feature was discovered in a teardown and appears to be operational so far. It will probably be activated for all users shortly. Probably the first beta testers in a smaller group already have this function active.
