Last week, Huawei announced that they were already working on solutions for autonomous driving and that their goal was to build a completely driverless car by 2025. Huawei does not necessarily have to build the car, Huawei primarily wants to develop the necessary sensors for it.
Huawei – Alternative to Tesla?
Wang Jun, President of Huawei Smart Car Solutions, gave a speech at the 13th China Automotive Blue Book Forum. Wang said the Huawei team is working on autonomous driving solutions with a goal of building a truly driverless car by 2025.
The head of Huawei’s smart car business mentioned the importance of creating an application ecosystem for smart cars and developing a new version of the cockpit system. According to the information, the smart car solutions and the cockpit are powered by the HarmonyOS software. Wang emphasized that HarmonyOS will be used in all future smart car solutions.
Since Huawei is already busy ordering for the SERES SF5 Smart Car has accepted (so far over 10,000 orders), it is not so far that they can also get involved in this market – at least in the Far East for the time being. The car is being built jointly by SERES and Huawei and features various Huawei smart car technologies.
