End clap for the Cannes film festival. The meeting of French moviegoers ended on Saturday July 17, on the Croisette. During this rather special edition, the first since the start of the pandemic, several feature films were awarded by the jury chaired by director Spike Lee. Discover the official selection of this 2021 edition.
It’s a first. Julia Ducorneau, the director of the feature film Titane, is the first woman to win the precious award. In 1993, Jane Campion had already been rewarded for the same price, but tied with Adieu ma concubine by Chen Keige. Titanium follows the adventures of a father who finds his son who has been missing for 10 years after a series of unexplained crimes. In the cast, we find in particular Vincent Lindon, Agathe Rouselle and Garance Marillier (Grave).
The Grand Prix is awarded not to one, but two feature films. The title was presented by American director Oliver Stone to Asghar Farhadi A Hero and Juho Kuosmanen for Compartment N ° 6.
Annette, directed by Leos Carax and starring Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver in the main roles, won the award for directing. Finally, after Jodie Foster at the start of the festival, it is the Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio who received the palm of honor this Saturday, July 17.
