Every year Amazon nominates new Alexa Champions. This award is given to dedicated developers who help shape the future of language technology. Amazon has been choosing Alexa Champions since 2016. Now there are again ten new Alexa Champions, three of them from Europe, one of them from Germany.
New Amazon Alexa Champions announced
Since 2016, 60 people have received the title of Alexa Champion. These are distributed across all subject groups, from engineers to designers and conversational UI / UX experts. Amazon wants to recognize these people for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the global Alexa community.
Admittedly … I look a little jealous at the nominations every year! This year the following ten people were named.
Alexander Martin: Alexander Martin is a front-end architect at Europe’s largest hosting provider and has been developing Alexa skills since 2017. His TV programming skill has been the number 1 skill in the German Alexa Skill Store for several years. He also developed the screensaver skill for display devices with Alexa. He founded APL-Ninja, a social platform for APL, where other developers can find and upload new code snippets every day.
Since I have known Alexander for many years and know his commitment and we have also often supported each other, I am especially happy for him – but I had already expected the nomination anyway.
Ashish Jha: His journey in voice began in November 2017 when Alexa was first introduced in India. Since then, he’s been immersed in the voice-first ecosystem, developing more than 500 Alexa skills in a variety of areas for businesses – from SMBs to those of the Fortune 500 brands.
Dyung Ngo: is the developer for Voice, co-founder of Melbourne-based company CogniVocal and founder of the Melbourne Amazon Alexa Meetup. He is passionate about the potential of voice technology to improve people’s lives and loves to explore the vast possibilities of voice.
João Paulo Alqueres: is a full-stack conversation designer, voice developer and founder of the voice agency Iara Digital. In addition to his work as an entrepreneur and certified Alexa Skill Builder, Joao is co-moderator of a podcast in which he interviews pioneers of the Internet and voice.
Jody Burnett: Described as the creative whirlwind in the world of Voice, Jody Burnett used 30 years of technical experience to create VoiceSkills Inc. He led teams developing Alexa skills for big brands like Amazon, Microsoft, and PMI, and helped create thousands of Alexa skills for customers around the world.
Maaike Coppens: As an award-winning Voice UX designer and strategist, keynote speaker and co-author of the Voice UX Workbook, Maaike Coppens offers Voice UX consulting for start-ups, agencies and companies. Currently, Maaike is CDO at GreenShoot Labs, keeping the conversation going while working on their design tool, OpenDialog. As a passionate participant, she is co-organizer of the VoiceLunch BookClub and the Open Dialogues Podcast.
Steve Tingiris: Has been an active member of the Alexa developer community since 2015 and is the founder and CEO of Dabble Lab, a technology training and services company that helps companies learn and adopt natural language processing, conversational AI, and other emerging technologies to accelerate.
Suneet Patil: is an Alexa evangelist aiming to build the Alexa community in India and around the world and an early adopter of language technology in India. As an AWS-certified Alexa Skill Builder, Suneet is co-organizer of the Alexa Community Bengaluru and the Alexa Community India.
Xavier Portilla Edo: started his career in language technology in October 2019 with the development of four Alexa Skills: Pokemundo, Soccer Results, Basketball Results and APM. Passionate about the power of voice, he wrote the first book on Alexa development available in Spanish, entitled “The Alexa Revolution.”
Congratulations to all of my new Alexa Champions!
