Anyone who goes jogging and tracks their runs with Runtastic, for example, knows the voice output that tells you distance, speed, etc. With watchOS 8, Siri also becomes such a training coach.
With watchOS 8, Siri becomes a training coach
What is completely normal with all the running apps seems to finally come to the Apple Watch with watchOS 8: the voice coach. With the new version of the operating system there is now the possibility of setting a voice output that gives you acoustic announcements during your current activity. As soon as you have activated the function in the settings in the training app on the watch or in the watch app, Siri will tell you the time, your training progress after each kilometer run. Siri then becomes something like “two kilometers, pace 9 minutes 45 seconds”.
In addition, there should be an acoustic message when activity rings are closed during training and – unless open training has been selected – when the training goal has been achieved.
If you listen to music during your activity, that’s no problem either. The music is automatically turned down during the announcements, so that you can still hear Siri’s hints.
The function is in the Beta- Version from watchOS 8 already available. The new version of the operating system should then be available to everyone from autumn.
