The Gladiator director returns to directing The Last Duel with Adam Driver and Matt Damon in the lead roles. A first trailer has just been shared and gives us a glimpse of the clash between the two main characters.
Two monuments of the 7th art will compete under the leadership of Ridley Scott. Featured at The Last Duel, Adam Driver and Matt Damon engage in medieval jousting in the film’s first trailer. Planned on our screens for the October 13th, The Last Duel in French is inspired by a true story.
According to the book The Last Duel: Paris, December 29, 1386 by Eric Jager, the feature film tells the story of the fight between Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) and Jacques le Gris (Adam Driver). These two friends, who have become fierce rivals over time, will clash when Jean Carrouge’s wife accuses Le Gris of having attacked her. This confrontation to the death will place the destiny of each of them in the hands of God.
Shot in France, in Sarlat in 2020, The Last Duel benefits from a more than prestigious cast. In addition to Adam Driver and Matt Damon, the filmmaker recruited Ben Affleck to play Comte Pierre d’Alençon. Jodie Comer, who illustrated herself in the Killing Eve series, will play Marguerite de Carrouges. We will also find Nathaniel Parker (The Heist of the Century) et Harriet Walter (Killing Eve).
Behind the camera, Ridley Scott teamed up with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to write the script. On the music side, Harry Gregson-Williams will work. The composer notably worked on the score of Mulan. He had previously collaborated with Ridley Scott with Alone on Mars.
See you in the dark rooms on October 13th to discover this medieval epic. In the meantime, you will be able to find Jodie Comer starring at Free Guy since the August 11 at the cinema.
