The smart Nanoleaf Lightpanels will function as thread border routers, but only in August.
Nanoleaf points to launching the feature in August
Nanoleaf has presented a few new products in the past few months, including new wood-look panels, which I have already talked about reported have. The Nanoleaf products are already based on the new thread standard and are therefore very early on.
It has now been reported several times that the Nanoleaf panels are not only prepared for thread, but should also function as border routers themselves. This eliminates the need for another router, which could be a HomePod mini, for example. However, the news for Europe came out a little too quickly, because according to Nanoleaf, the function will not be available until August.
At Thread, by the way, Nanoleaf works with eero, who already have Thread-capable mesh WiFi routers in their range.
