The display of the iPhone should drastically improve this year, thanks to the arrival of a refresh rate of 120 Hz and an “always-on” mode.
The weeks go by and we get closer and closer to the launch of l’iPhone 13, future flagship of the Apple brand. And as the presentation approaches, the rumors also become more specific. This is precisely how we learn a little more about the screen that should have at least one variant of the iPhone 13.
All the previous leaks agreed on one specific point: Apple should finally offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz to its iPhones. However, not all models will be affected by this innovation. According to the latest news, only the “Pro” models would benefit from a dalle OLED LTPO. This would be provided by Samsung, and has the particularity of being able to automatically adjust its refresh rate according to the content displayed, and this up to 120 Hz.
This type of slab – found on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, for example – would offer other benefits. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this screen would allow the equipped iPhone in particular to offer the « always-on », or the possibility of keeping your screen on in all circumstances.
An always-on screen on “at least one” iPhone 13
This function is not really new in the Android world, where most high-end smartphones now offer a mode. always-on. However, it would be a first for the iPhone… but not for Apple. The Apple Watch has indeed offered this screen technology and a permanent display since Serie 5.
Gurman specifies, however, that this novelty should not be present on all iPhone 13 models. According to him, ” at least one “ iPhone model 13 should take advantage of this. Apple could once again reserve this novelty for its most high-end (and most imposing) model, the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It wouldn’t be so surprising since the iPhone 12 Pro Max, for example, took advantage of different photo sensors than its smaller brothers.
We still have to wait for the month of September and the traditional presentation conference of the new iPhone to confirm or not these characteristics.
