As reported by several media outlets, different users have the option of a male voice profile. There is also a new activation word for Amazon Alexa, it is Ziggy. With its own voice assistant, Amazon is therefore pulling the same as Google’s and will also be offering an alternative male voice in future.
Activation word Ziggy and male voice for Amazon Alexa
First of all, this option only appears with a few users in the USA. And since Amazon is known to only roll out the updates in waves, only a few users see it there. With the activation word “Ziggy”, Amazon now offers five different triggers to wake up the voice assistant to receive commands. So far these have only been “Alexa”, “Amazon”, “Echo” and “Computer”.
Alexa’s new male voice should be able to be set by voice command and via the Amazon Alexa app. In Germany nobody can see or even adjust the male voice. It is currently unclear when the function will also come to us. The fact is that such a language model takes a lot of time. So I wouldn’t expect it too quickly. Just ask “Alexa, do you have a male voice?”
