EA Play Live: Battlefield 2042, Dead Space, Apex… We take stock of the announcements

Yesterday evening, Electronics Arts unveiled its traditional EA Play Live. If the event was for the first time in its history, uncorrelated from E3, the American publisher still wanted to formalize some titles.

Aired at 7 p.m. last night on the Electronic Arts official YouTube channel (but also on Twitch and Twitter), EA Play Live offered fans an interesting evening to say the least. It must be said that after a 2020 edition far from memorable, this 2021 batch multiplied the risk-taking: not only had EA decided to move away from E3 to organize a completely independent event, but in addition the company had been surprisingly discreet about her program.

Grid, Lost in Random … lots of new things

Used to explosive titles, EA started the evening with the announcement of Grid Legend, scheduled for 2022. The opportunity for fans to discover the first images of the game, as well as an overview of the many disciplines that will be offered ingame. In terms of novelties, Lost in Random presented a new trailer, while confirming its announced release date for September 10 on PC and consoles. At the end of the evening, the developers also presented Dead Space, through a short but already promising teaser. The only certainty for now is that the game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, and will include a Frostbite graphics engine.

New season for Apex

Apex Legends also provided some information on Emergence, its all new season expected for August 3. Unsurprisingly, the update will be an opportunity to discover several new characters, as well as new skills. Next season d’Apex will also mark the beginning of ranked games, as well as the arrival of an official tournament and cross-platform. At the same time, the game Knockout City also revealed information about its next season, which will begin on July 27.

Battlefield 2042 unveils its sandbox

Already announced last month during E3, Battlefield 2042 presented an overview of its impressive content, which will revolve around three main themes, including Portal, a community sandbox mode developed by Ripple Effect Studios. In this part of the game, it will thus be possible to create a multiplayer portal to imagine unique modes, integrating in particular the contents of the previous titles of the saga. The mode will be accessible from the launch of the game, next October.
