To promote exchanges between users of different nationalities, Instagram is launching a new translation feature.
Social networks have no borders, if not the language barrier. To help its users better understand their favorite influencers, even when they don’t speak the same language, Instagram launches a new feature that promises to revolutionize our uses. No need to go to Google Translate to understand the latest story of your favorite American actor!
Thanks to See Translation, it will be possible to display the text in your native language. Thus, when a sticker or a sentence in English appears, the application offers to translate it for you. This is more or less what Facebook and Twitter already offer in their news feeds. On the other hand, his arrival on the stories – which have long since become queens on Instagram – takes on an unprecedented character.

To use it, nothing could be simpler. Just go to the Story tab and select an image with text in a foreign language. Then, at the top left, you will see appear “See translation”. Click on it and you’re done.
No automatic translation of the audio yet
For now, this functionality only applies to writing. On the other hand, it’s a safe bet that Instagram is already working on a version capable of translating audio thanks to automatically generated subtitles. We can imagine that it adopts a format similar to the one already offered on YouTube. This nevertheless represents a major job for the social network which has not yet developed tools in this direction.
