Apple Music is finally getting interesting on Android

Apple Music’s Android application has finally been entitled to new features in the streaming service, including Lossless audio and spatial sound.

A few months ago, Apple hit hard in the world of streaming music by announcing some new products on the side ofApple Music. Among them, we found in particular the possibility of listening to music in Lossless format – without loss – as well as the support of l’audio spatial Dolby Atmos on compatible titles. The app also introduced a new automatic crossfade.

Almost two months after the launch of these features on the iOS and macOS app from Apple Music, all these new features are now available on the Android version. To enjoy it on your Android smartphone, go to the Play Store to update the application in its version 3.6.0.

How to take advantage of new Apple Music?

As a reminder, Apple Music’s HiFi offer requires certain specific equipment. Lossless audio is too heavy to go wireless, and will therefore only be accessible by wired. Also note that, if you switch to 4G / 5G, streaming a song in Lossless is likely to consume a lot of mobile data (145MB for a single 24-bit / 192kHz song, for example).

As for spatial audio, it is easily accessible wirelessly on all compatible songs. To activate this option, all you have to do is activate Dolby Atmos on the song you want to listen to in this way. This function is accessible to all. The only prerequisite: having headphones or a stereo headset. If you are interested in this technology, we invite you to read our file dedicated to Dolby Atmos, the way it is made and what it can do for you in listening to your music.
