Holders of a latest-generation console will be able to take advantage of a six-month subscription offered to Apple TV +, whether or not they already subscribe to the service.
Apple TV + continues to forge partnerships to make its way into the ultra-competitive world of SVOD offers. The platform has joined forces with Sony for a promotional offer aimed at Playstation 5 users. July 22, 2022, all users of a new generation console from the Japanese firm will be able to take advantage of 6 months free subscription to Apple TV +. This also applies to holders of an offer at the Apple brand and will save them half a year of subscription.
Apple reviews its strategy
Since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV + has struggled to find its way into living rooms around the world. It must be said that unlike its competitors, the platform has chosen to rely only on new content to enrich its catalog. Last January, it was estimated that the number of households subscribed to only 8.74 million in the United States. This is much less than Disney +, launched during the same period, which then reached 37 million across the Atlantic. Figures therefore rather timid, especially since Apple was then more generous than its consorts by offering a year of subscription to all buyers of a product of the Apple brand.
Last July, Apple nevertheless revised its offer downwards, contenting itself with offering its customers 3 months. The offer proposed by Sony will therefore make it possible to bounce back registrations and undoubtedly rally some users to its cause.
As a reminder, the subscription is offered at only 4.99 euros per month. It’s much less than Netflix and Disney +. Among the most popular productions of the offer, we find in particular the series Ted Lasso as well as the latest feature film by the Russo brothers: Cherry. Next September, the platform will unveil a new large-scale series, inspired by the work Foundation of Isaac Asimov. Note that the subscription will be automatically renewed at the end of this trial period and until canceled by the user.
