Aqara announces Matter support for the M1S and M2 Hub

Aqara announced today that the M1S and M2 Hub of the Smart Home System will support the new Matter standard.

Great news for users of the Aqara Smart Home System. Like the company today Reddit announced, the M1S and M2 Hub will also support the new Smart Home Standard Matter. At the same time, various devices that are connected to the hub should also be able to support Matter. According to Aqara, this includes the new sensors, switches and smart plugs.

Matter is the new Smart Home Standard, which was previously known as CHIP (Connected Home Over IP). This standard is intended to make IoT devices from different manufacturers compatible with one another and also allows them to communicate in the local network.

Aqara plans to provide the OTA update for the two hubs shortly after the introduction of Matter. The official launch of Matter is currently planned for the first half of 2022.
