Early this year we were already advancing that the company behind HBO, WarnerMedia, began to work on the unification of local brands, so that brands such as HBO Spain, among many others, will be called simply HBO Max throughout the world.
The idea of the platform is to offer a unified experience around the world, with improvements in the entertainment offer that can be enjoyed through a renewed application.
The segment of the platforms of streaming becomes more competitive
In this regard, continuing with the deployment that has been taking place throughout this time in different parts of the world, we have now just learned about by HBO itself that the new experience of HBO Max will arrive in Spain from next October 26.
Spain will be one of the first European countries to have the new offer of leisure and entertainment available, along with Andorra, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, although this offer will be finalized before that date through a virtual event, which will be held by the platform to publicize all the details of what its subscribers will be able to enjoy.
In the absence of specificity, it is well known that users will be able to have access to content from HBO, Warner Bros, Cartoon Network, DC and Max Originals. With respect to current subscribers, they will not have to make any changes, since the transition from HBO Spain to HBO Max will be automatic.
Users who enjoy HBO through the operator Vodafone Spain they won’t have to do anything either, since they will get the new HBO Max experience automatically and without involving any price alteration, as confirmed by the operator itself.
WarnerMedia hopes that with this risky move it will try to steal user quota from the almighty Netflix, which is not resting on its laurels either and is already working on the launch of mobile games, and is currently in test phase in Poland.
After Spain and other European countries, HBO Max will continue its deployment in Portugal and other parts of Europe as part of its strategy of global unification of the HBO Max brand.
Will it be able to unseat Netflix from its first position? We do not know, although we can intuit that the offer behind HBO Max will be more than abundant, marking a new step in the maturity of the segment of video-on-demand content transmission platforms.
