Just like it had been rumored, the new generation from the pick-up Ford Ranger I know will launch in 2022, which includes Europe. And the oval brand is already starting to warm up engines with a first preview of this truck, unleashing its full potential in this video.
Still under strict camouflage, the new Ford Ranger delights us skidding on mud, sand and snow, in addition to tackling steep slopes, rocks and flying over dirt tracks.
Ford assures that in this new installment, the Ranger will be the “more resilient, capable and connected” never conceived, but without giving any clue yet about its ingredients on a mechanical level.
And it is that more than a year ago some leaks pointed out that for the first in its history the Ford Ranger could include a plug-in hybrid mechanics, which would not be unreasonable and even more so when we talk about the fact that it will continue to be present in the European market.
Be that as it may, it will not take long to get out of doubt: Ford now also confirms that this new generation of Ford Ranger will be presented at the end of this 2021.
With the plug-in hybrid mechanics of the Ford Explorer?
Next to this video, Ford boasts of showing for the first time the new Ranger in its natural habitat”. That is, off the asphalt. And in turn make it clear that you will enjoy more advanced off-road goodies to function more effectively on demanding terrain such as slippery or steep.
But these benefits are not at odds with alternative mechanics. This is demonstrated by newcomers such as the Hummer EV, which combines zero-emission mechanics with a wide range of modern off-road technologies. And the same thing happens with the Rivian R1T.
According to a leak published by the Australian media CarExpert, which has already hit the mark with the launch date of the new generation for 2022, in this installment the pick-up will show off a aesthetic and mechanical renovation, including in the equation a plug-in hybrid variant.
And also this would be the same as that of the new Ford Explorer, which has been precisely released in Europe in its PHEV version. If so, the new Ford Ranger It will equip a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 363 CV that will add forces with an electric one to sign the 457 CV and the 825 Nm.
On the menu would also be 13.1 kWh battery of capacity that, in the case of the Explorer, confers an electric range of 48 kilometers. A figure that, if the same or similar in the Ranger, would mean that this pick-up would earn the ZERO label.
However, it is expected that this new installment also have diesel thermal versions. Specifically, the 2.0 liters four cylinder turbo and 213 CV which now equips the sportiest variant of the Ranger, the Raptor.
But in this new generation this block would pass to the conventional version, while the Ford Ranger Raptor would equip a 3.0-liter 250-hp V6 that rides his older sister: the F-150. We will see if this is the case in Europe, as we must not forget the increasingly stringent emission requirements.
On the other hand, the new Ford Ranger will come with connectivity injection, incorporating for example the Ford SYNC4 multimedia system.
And there should also be a digital instrumentation, that of the Explorer is embodied in a huge 12.3-inch screen, as well as a larger and more advanced touch screen that enjoys Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection.
Ford is expected to gradually advance the ingredients of the new Ranger, with the usual campaign of teasers that culminate in the final fireworks. We’ll be alert.
