If a few years ago they were widespread only among a very select few, today any enthusiast of two wheels knows what is a gravel bike, a type that has conquered everyone because of its great versatility: perfect on the road, very good on dirt. Well Bergamont has just presented the Grandurance 2022 range.
As a tradition, Bergamont’s new gravel bikes have a multicolored front fork, which contrasts with the main color of the frame. There are four main variants: the series Grandurance 4, 6, 6 FNM with aluminum alloy frame and fork, the Grandurance 8 with aluminum alloy frame and carbon fork, the Grandurance Expert and Elite with carbon frame and the Grandurance RD with mudguards, luggage rack and lights, for more trekking use.
Compared to the past the wheels become larger, except on the Grandurance 4: we have 700x45c tires (28×1.70), Schwalbe G-One Bite as standard equipment (by the way: Schwalbe created the puncture resistant tires). Then the dropper post makes its debut, while the mudguard is missing on the Grandurance Expert and Elite.
The shifters belong to Shimano’s GRX series, designed specifically for gravel bikes, with the Grandurance 8 and Elite that instead offer the front single chainring. So we come to talk about prices: the Grandurance 4, the entry level, costs 1,099 euros, for the Grandurance Elite, on the other hand, at the top of the range, the price is € 2,999. A price list that is certainly rising compared to the past, and we all know why, with the bicycle market in total trouble, but still excellent compared to the quality of the products.
