The future flagship of the South Korean manufacturer would ultimately not be entitled to a 200 MP sensor on the back.
Samsung’s next flagship isn’t due until early next year, but it’s already starting to reveal its secrets. Korean media The Elec claims to know part of the technical sheet of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and its photo part would not be as impressive as expected.
Indeed, while a previous rumor affirmed that the Galaxy S22 Ultra would be equipped with a 200 MP photo sensor freshly presented by the South Korean manufacturer, it would ultimately be necessary to be satisfied with a main camera of 108 MP. We would therefore not have a real leap forward in terms of photography compared to Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S20 Ultra, also equipped with a 108 MP sensor.
However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra would not be devoid of novelties in this area. Rather than increasing the number of megapixels of its sensors, Samsung would rather consider improving the existing one. Thus, the ultra wide-angle lens would receive the OIS, and the firm would use two 12 MP telephoto lenses to allow its smartphone to offer a continuous X3 to X10 zoom.
At last, The Elec explains that the Galaxy S22 Ultra would sport a 40 MP sensor on the front. Therefore, we imagine that this camera will always be visible. As for the Galaxy S22 and S22 +, they would be entitled to a 10 MP front sensor, and a 50 MP RGBW main sensor on the back.
Whatever configuration Samsung chooses, we will have to wait a few more months before we can get our hands on the future Galaxy S22. Always after The Elec, mass production is expected to start in November. In the meantime, we can always be satisfied with the Galaxy S21 FE, which is scheduled for release before the end of the year.
