Im Infidelity trial against VW managers are to testify on Wednesday (9.30 a.m.) more witnesses before the regional court of Braunschweig. Among other things, investigators are supposed to report on the proceedings to allegedly excessive salaries and bonus payments to senior works councils at Volkswagen. Contrary to what was originally planned, the proceedings could end in September. The judge announced on Monday that after four more witnesses, the pleadings and a decision would be possible in the coming week. Previously, appointments had been made until the end of October.
Three former and one still acting personnel manager of the VW group are accused, including the two ex-group personnel managers Horst Neumann and Karlheinz Blessing (file number: 16 KLs 85/19). The public prosecutor’s office accuses them of having released inappropriately lavish remuneration for the former works council chairman Bernd Osterloh and other influential members of the employee representatives at the largest European car manufacturer between 2011 and 2016. The accusation is infidelity, sometimes in particularly serious cases. The group is said to have suffered damage of more than 5 million euros. (dpa-AFX / gem)
