Sony is celebrating the anniversary of PlayStation VR with three free games!

In November, enjoy three free VR games, in addition to the games offered as part of the PlayStation Plus membership.

This year marks the 5th anniversary of Sony’s virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR. Also called the PSVR, the device has been supporting players on PlayStation for a few years now. For the occasion, Sony has decided to thank its fans by offering some surprises to subscribers to the Playstation plus, starting in November.

Indeed, three VR games will be available for free for subscribers, in addition to the traditional three games offered each month. For now, the first titles offered have not been revealed, and they will surely be at the same time as the other games for the month of November. However, Sony clarified that VR games would be included in the PlayStation Plus subscription permanently. So expect a slew of VR games in the coming months.

For the occasion, Sony also unveiled the ranking of the most played VR games in the world, among the more than 500 available. It is Rec Room, Beat Saber, PlayStation VR Worlds, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.

How to take advantage of the VR games offered?

As a reminder, PlayStation Plus is a subscription service offered by Sony on its consoles giving you access each month to downloadable games for free, often three or four in number, and allows you to play multiplayer games online. The subscription is available for € 8.99 per month, € 24.99 per quarter or € 59.99 per year.

To this will therefore be added one or more VR games, which will be compatible with the PlayStation VR released in 2016. For the moment, Sony has not yet detailed whether the current VR games will be supported by the next Sony device, which is still awaited.

No news from PSVR 2

Sony could have jumped at the occasion of the fifth anniversary of its device to give news of its predecessor. And yet, this opportunity has gone by the wayside since Sony has not revealed anything new about the PSVR2.

Announced several months ago, the VR device is extremely desirable. Sony has already shown the general public a prototype for the headset controllers, which would ship the same technologies as DualSense. The headset itself is still an almost total mystery, and Sony still doesn’t resolve to give us a few crumbs. An announcement in full swing is surely to be expected in a few months, the device is expected for 2022 according to rumors.
