In September, Google announced that YouTube Music would no longer be exclusively available for the Galaxy Watch4 series and now the streaming service is also available for wearables with Wear OS 2.
YouTube Music for Wear OS 2 – Snapdragon 3100 required
So far, the use of YouTube Music on a wearable required the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 or 4100+, which is only available in the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series, Fossil Gen 6 including Michael Kors edition, the mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS / LTE and the TicWatch E3 is installed.
Older watches should do the job “later in the year” obtain. Just two weeks later, YouTube Music can now be found in the Google Play Store and can be installed on the wearables with Wear OS 2. But here, too, there is a restriction, because the Snapdragon Wear 3100 must be installed so that you can also download the streaming service.
YouTube Music for Wear OS lets you download playlists to your smartwatch so you can listen to them on the go without your smartphone. Smart Downloads update the cache when the wearable is on WiFi and charging. A YouTube Music Premium subscription is required.
The app is primarily a long list divided into “Downloads”, “Recommended” and “Library”. The first section can contain your “offline mixtape”, “your preferences” and “discover mix”. Playlist suggestions follow, while at the very bottom there is “Settings” where you can choose how many songs are saved. Once playback starts, you can swipe left to see the Now Playing controls that make you like or dislike songs.
