Chip shortage: Japan exports fewer cars

The global problems in the supply chains and the resulting shortage of materials are putting pressure on the recovery of Japanese exports from the corona slump. In September, exports rose by 13 percent compared to the previous year, as the Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday based on preliminary data. This halved the rate of growth compared to the previous month.

However, the increase in September was a little higher than experts had expected at an average of 10.5 percent. The main problem was the lack of chips, which put pressure on the exports of the automobile industry, which is so important for the country. The exports of automobiles have fallen by 40 percent compared to the previous year, the statement said.
