WhatsApp Business tests API in the cloud that would simplify its adoption

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Facebook (Meta), continues to advance in its intention to be the great alternative to phone calls for communications between clients and companies.

In this sense, keeping the current version of the existing WhatsApp Business API, used by thousands and thousands of companies around the world, and without plans at least for the time being for its elimination in favor of the new one, the messaging platform has just start testing a version of the WhatsApp Business API that is cloud-based (the current API is not cloud-based).

With the new cloud-based API, WhatsApp expects to reduce setup time for API adoption from weeks to minutes. This means that all those companies that wish to use WhatsApp as a channel or one of the communication channels for their businesses, they no longer have to wait weeks, or even a month, to start being in touch with their customers.

It often happens that there are companies that employ services like Twilio or Zendesk to integrate communication channels with your backend to enable communication with your customers with WhatsApp and other popular communication channels.

For now both APIs will coexist for free, where the cloud-based API, currently in testing, will be used in this phase by more than a dozen partners, including Zendesk in the US, Take in Brazil and MessageBird in the European Union.
