Regarding brands, Hyundai is crowned in first place and surpasses Peugeot, which remains in second place ahead of KIA. SEAT for the month of October has fallen to a discreet eighth place. Among the premium brands, Mercedes-Benz claims its leadership.

In total, only three regular manufacturers in the “Top 20” have managed to improve their October data this year compared to the same month last year: Cupra (+1.147 %), Hyundai (+57%) and THAT (+22%), while those that have suffered the most are SEAT (-53%), Audi (-42%) and Dacia (-39%).

The private channel continues to descend freely

Set off

With these data, it is difficult to reach the figure of one million vehicles registered in 2021 and Anfac’s forecasts are already estimated at a total of 900,000 units sold at the end of the year, which would represent a 25% drop compared to the 1,258,260 vehicles sold in 2019.

By sales channels, only the rental channel has managed to increase its registrations last October to 3,729 units, which translates into 29.3% more in the interannual rate and 30.4% less compared to the same month of 2019. So far this year this channel has accumulated an increase in deliveries of 71.6%, to 145,033, but it loses 32.7% when compared to 2019.

This month, the channel that falls the most is that of companies, with a 27.3% reduction in sales compared to October 2020 and 24,249 units. If compared to the same month in 2019, the drop is 38.5%. In the accumulated of the year, it registers an increase in its sales of 6.9% in the interannual rate until it reaches 265,578 units in total, but comparing this figure with that of 2019 the fall is 25.9%.

For its part, the private channel ended October with a total of 31,066 vehicles sold, which is 18.2% less in the interannual rate and 36.7% less compared to the same month of 2019.

In the first ten months of the year, the private channel is the only one that registers negative figures compared to the previous year, having delivered a total of 296,387 vehicles, 12% less in the interannual rate and 38.8% less compared to the same period two years ago.

Dealers they still don’t have enough stock to meet demand, Ganvam said. For Faconauto, such a low level of registrations derives from the production crisis that is devastating the automotive industry as a result of the lack of supply of semiconductors, both globally and in Spanish factories.

But the lack of microchips -which threatens to remain a constant throughout 2022-, other factors are added such as the increase in costs in maritime transport (which is currently suffering constant interruptions) and technological uncertainty in a context of economic crisis.

Thus, while new car registrations fall, Anfac points out that the sale of used vehicles of high age, and more affordable prices, is skyrocketing.

With an eye on the alternatives

Alternative Mechanics Vehicles they continue their ascent discreet. The registrations of electrified, hybrid and gas vehicles (cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) increased in October by 25.8% compared to the same month of 2020, until 25,735 units, of which 24,855 were passenger cars.

In the accumulated of the year, these vehicles increased their deliveries by 75%, up to 248,355 units. For the passenger car market, they grew by 76.3% until the tenth month of the year, to 238,104 units.
