Current financial year: Toyota raises profit forecast

The leading Japanese car company Toyota has raised its profit forecast for the current financial year despite production cuts as a result of the supply bottlenecks for electronic chips. As the Volkswagen rival announced on Thursday, net profit in the 2021/22 financial year (March 31) should amount to 2.49 trillion yen (18.9 billion euros). That would be an increase of almost eleven percent over the previous year.

So far, Toyota had assumed a surplus of 2.3 trillion yen. Sales are expected to be 30 trillion yen. In the first half of the current financial year, the group, which also includes the small car specialist Daihatsu and the commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino Motors, increased its net profit by 2.4 times to 1.5 trillion yen, according to Toyota.
