Order record expected: Dürr remains optimistic

The global economic recovery continues to drive the mechanical and plant engineering company Dürr. Orders soared further in the third quarter, with the Group’s woodworking in particular flourishing. The outgoing CEO Ralf Dieter was optimistic despite current supply chain problems and confirmed the annual forecast that was raised in July. “We are heading for a new order record,” he said. “The prospects are also right for the fourth quarter, the pipeline is well filled with projects available for award from our customers.”

In the third quarter, the order intake at Dürr was up by almost 33 percent compared to the previous year, so that orders worth 3.26 billion euros were on the books at the end of September – that was also a third more than the amount of the corona pandemic burdened prior-year period. The group was able to increase its sales from July to September by almost eleven percent to a good 901 million euros. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) more than doubled to 51 million euros, and the cost reductions introduced also helped here. After taxes, Dürr earned 17.3 million euros, up from 15.8 million euros a year earlier. (dpa / swi)
