Production continues: Daimler Truck sells Mercedes minibus plant in Dortmund to Aequita

The Dortmund plant for Mercedes-Benz minibuses is taken over by the Aequita industrial group in Munich. The location with around 240 employees will thus be secured, announced Daimler Truck on Wednesday in Stuttgart. A purchase price was not mentioned.

The deal will take effect on January 1st next year. “The production of the minibuses of the Mercedes-Benz brand at the plant in Dortmund will be continued”, announced Daimer Truck. The buses are used, among other things, in local public transport, so far more than 20,000 vehicles have left the Dortmund plant.

Daimler wanted to concentrate in the division on the manufacture of buses with over eight tons of weight and chassis, it said. Daimler Truck sees itself as the global market leader in commercial vehicles – the manufacturer is planning to go public in mid-December. (dpa-AFX / os)
