With a new update, the navigation app Sygic uses the smartphone camera to record traffic signs.
Sygic Navi-App – Acquisition of traffic signs with smartphone camera
While other navigation apps only display the speed limits stored in the map material, the provider Sygic goes one step further. In future, the app will use the smartphone camera to recognize traffic signs and then display them. The function will follow with the next update to version 20.9.0 for Android and iOS for customers of the premium subscription.
Although the speed limits stored in the map material are updated every few months and most changes in road traffic are also covered, there are always short-term restrictions or adjustments, such as for construction sites or the speed limits on LED signs, which are not recorded. According to the company, these will be taken into account by the app using the camera in the future.
The rollout should begin in the coming days. If you want the new function, you need a Premium + subscription that costs you either € 13.99 for 3 or € 29.99 for 12 months.
During the Black Friday do you get that Annual subscription for € 16.99.
