Porsche shows us the rear of its hybrid prototype that wants to conquer Le Mans, and that will start testing in January 2022

In its traditional “Night of Champions” Porsche has advanced part of its plans for the next season in the world of competition. The German manufacturer has its sights set mainly on the Formula E and in the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship (WEC), when the new rules go into effect.

In this sense, we already have the first images of his ultimate weapon: the expected Porsche LMDh. They are very concise brushstrokes that for the moment, and despite the unique black and white camouflage, give us a preview of what the rear of the model will look like and let us guess both some features of its category and a well-studied aerodynamics.

The LMDh is being developed by Porsche Motorsport y Multimatic, in parallel to “his brother Audi LMDh”, since both brands will return both to FIA World Endurance Championship like to North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and they will do so by sharing synergies as far as possible.

We are already eager to see the final result, and it is that Multimatic knows what it does, it is one of the four manufacturers approved by the FIA to make LMP2 cars (and LMDh category cars must be developed from an LMP2 chassis).

The Porsche LMDh will have a total power of 500 kW (680 CV) and it is expected that from January 2022 it can begin to be tested in order to fully enter to compete in the 2023 season.

Porsche’s objectives for the coming seasons are ambitious, and to achieve them, the brand has just presented two signings for the US for 2022: the American driver Dane Cameron (33 years old) champion of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2016 and 2019 and the Brazilian Felipe Nasr (29 years old), who is a former Formula 1 driver. Next season’s agenda also includes the expansion of sports activities for clients of the German brand.

For more than 70 years, Porsche has drawn on its racing experience as a testing laboratory to implement its most advanced technologies.
