LastPass users having trouble with their master passwords

Users of the LastPass password management service are finding these days with notifications alerting them of attempts to log in to their accounts on this platform using the master passwords they have for this service, reaching the point of changing them in some cases and continuing to receive notifications of attempts to access accounts with master passwords.

In alerts, users detail that attempts come from unknown locations, reaching the point that some users have seen logins blocked due to a high number of attempts received.

With locks from budding attempts on a number of accounts, from LastPass Users are encouraged to make inquiries about security relevant in order to protect your accounts against new attempts.

As we say, there have been users who have come to change their master passwords, and even so they have continued to receive the alerts. Nikolett Bacso-Albaum, Senior Director of Public Relations, points out to BleepingComputer which is a common bot-related activity.

More precisely, he specified that:

LastPass investigated recent reports of blocked login attempts and determined that the activity is related to a fairly common bot-related activity, in which a malicious actor tries to access user accounts (in this case, LastPass) using email addresses. email and passwords obtained from third party breaches related to other unaffiliated services

It continues by stating that none of the login attempts have been successful, finding no evidence of this, and that there is no evidence that the service has been compromised by “an unauthorized party”:

We regularly monitor this type of activity and will continue to take measures designed to ensure that LastPass, its users, and their data remain protected and secure, “added Bacso-Albaum

Despite this, the statements are not convincing the affected users, some of whom even went one step further when trying to disable and delete their accounts without success, encountering error messages.
