Following a bug, Google is pausing its Pixel 6 and 6 Pro update, but promises to come back in January with a fix.
Launched last October, the Google Pixel 6 et 6 Pro were to afford an update in December. A small revision that promised to add some very useful features to their users. Owners of a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, who had seen disappear magic eraser of Google Photo were to find this revolutionary tool, formerly reserved for Photoshop users.
But this update, scheduled for December 6, brings its share of problems to users, who have since the installation noted some system failures. Some people explain that they have fairly significant malfunctions during calls. They report, for example, an unexpected interruption of calls and frequent cuts. Alerted to the situation, Google provided some details via its Pixel Phone Help section.
A spokesperson for the company explains that the teams have identified the problem and are now tackling its resolution. Until then, the December 2021 update is officially on hiatus. Understand that it is currently inaccessible if you have not already installed it. It should nevertheless make its appearance on all of the brand’s latest models at the end of January.
What to do if your Pixel 6 bug?
If you have already installed the update, and it is causing you some concern, Google advises you to “Revert to the previous version using the Android Flash Tool software and perform a factory reset”. The firm specifies that it is nevertheless essential to save the data present on the phone, these must be completely erased during the manipulation.
To take no risk, you can activate automatic data backup using the Google One app. By clicking on storage, you can configure an automatic and regular backup of your photos, messages, browsing data. Note, however, that the manipulation must be validated by Google, and that it can take up to a whole day. So make sure the backup is turned on before you jump into resetting your smartphone.
If, on the other hand, you are already taking advantage of the December update, and you do not experience any instability, Google invites you to keep it. The firm thus indicates that“No action is required” from users.
