two screens for an extraordinary computer

The CES is always at the origin of announcements capable of changing the course of technological innovation, the Zephyrus Duo is an example.

CES has just started, and announcements are already raining in the tech world. Whereas LG has made the news with its latest products, this Tuesday January 4 also marks the debut of Asus in this brand new edition of CES, hard hit, again this year, by the pandemic. While the tech world seems to have been slowing down for a few months, the return of this legendary show should give the market a boost.

With the launch of innovative concepts and products to say the least, Asus had to do something surprising this year to stay current. The brand originating in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, has therefore decided to present the latest version of its Zephyrus, the Duo 16. As its name suggests, the latter has two screens, something quite rare for a computer (without being a large one. first).

An innovation that shows

Indeed, the sub-brand ROG (Republic of Gamers), belonging to Asus has been working for several years on laptops with two screens. They would be a real plus for players who could therefore benefit from a larger playing surface for their game. With this new format, Asus decides to break away from the traditional model: screen – keyboard – mouse, and tries to offer a new way of playing.

A risk-taking taken on by the brand which does not hesitate to offer the best components to its computer with such a special look. Enclosed in a frame of 355 x 265.9 x 20.9 mm, the high-end components are jostling. Starting with storage. ROG’s latest computer indeed offers two slots of 2 TB each. With two slots left empty by the brand for user upgrades.

Two screens, for an outperforming computer

When it comes to pure and hard performance of the computer, the latter has AMD’s CPU, the R9 6900 HX. Next to it, an equally powerful GPU with the card from Nvidia, the RTX 3080 Ti of 16 Gb.

Finally, when it comes to the two screens, Asus doesn’t do things by halves and offers a QHD main screen using Mini-LED technology. With an incredible 165 Hz refresh rate and no less than 1200 nits. Just below, the secondary screen, still measuring 14.09 inches, has nice features.

With UHD resolution but also haptic feedback calculated around 30 milliseconds, it is the perfect companion for gamers and creators. According to Asus, the product may be suitable for one or the other clientele as well. Regarding the release date and price, Asus assured that the product would be available during the first quarter of the year, at a price of € 2,999.
