The platform has just shared the trailer for Archive 81, halfway between Paranormal Activity and Last Night in Soho.
For this start of the year, Netflix is not slowing down its efforts to expand the ranks of its SVOD platform. The program is particularly busy for the month of January, with many feature films and series due to arrive in the coming weeks. Among them, Archive 81 hears make us shiver with its plot halfway between Paranormal Activity and Last Night in Soho.
Based on the principle of found-footage, widely used by horror for years, the new series of the platform will immerse us alongside an archivist who investigates a mysterious fire that occurred in 1981 in a building. But by viewing the video cassettes left by one of the inhabitants, he will discover that dark forces are at the origin of the tragedy.
As he nears his goal, he discovers that he may have the ability to save everyone in the building and change the events of the past. But playing with black magic can be dangerous, and his own life is in danger more than ever.
Inspired by a podcast
Written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) et Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), the series is inspired by the eponymous podcast created by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell. In production, we find a regular: James Wan to whom we owe the license Conjuring. Behind the camera, we find Rebecca Thomas (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay).
Finally, on the casting side, there are also beautiful people. Martin Donovan (Tenet) should thus encamp a certain Virgil, who assigns the main character. The roles of Dan Turner and Melody Pendras have been given to Mamadou Athie (Unicorn Store) et Dina Shihabi (Altered Carbon).
The launch of Archive 81 is imminent. The platform announces a availability from January 14thor in just a few days.
