Microsoft Teams has a new option for you to save storage

Microsoft is adding to Teams one of the most requested options by users and that will allow them to automatically save storage space.

It is an option that will be set by default, but that users will be able to disable or change its settings at any time.

New Microsoft feature to manage automatic recordings

One of the options that hosts can configure for meetings is the ability to automatically record meetings. A dynamic that makes it easier for those members of the group who did not attend to catch the day using the recording, or as a way to review the key points of a presentation.

However, workgroups that have automatic meeting recording configured find that a lot of recordings accumulate that are no longer useful as time passes. Not only do they consume space on your OneDrive or SharePoint accounts, but they also create clutter, forcing users to waste time choosing and deleting recordings manually.

So that this is not a problem, the Microsoft team has released a new option to Teams, which makes it easy for users to automatically delete recordings after a set time has passed.

An option that will be activated automatically, but that the hosts can modify and configure at their discretion. If you do not take any action, the automatic meeting recordings will be deleted after 60 days.

One detail to keep in mind is that this new dynamic will not work with existing automatic recordings. And on the other hand, this deletion schedule will not prevent users from manually deleting the recording before the set time.

When a recording is automatically deleted, an email will be sent to the user, and they will have about 90 days to retrieve the file from the Trash. We can see more configuration data for this new function in the help provided by the Microsoft team.
