Orlando Terranova wins the second stage of Prodrive and Nasser Al-Attiyah sentences his Dakar … if it ends

Orlando Terranova has won the sixth stage of the Dakar 2022… which could be the last. A terrorist threat seems to be putting the caravan in check, which is currently debating whether to go ahead with the test or not. They will have time to analyze it, since tomorrow Saturday is the rest stage.

Terranova has achieved the second stage victory of Prodrive so far in Dakar after the one achieved by Sébastien Loeb. Not only does it serve him to fulfill his objective of this edition but he also approaches a podium where it seems that only Nasser Al-Attiyah and Loeb himself are fixed.

Al-Attiyah has put a quarter of an hour more into Loeb

Ekstrom Dakar 2022

In the fight for final victory, Al-Attiyah has struck another blow. The Qatari from Toyota has put a quarter of an hour more into Loeb, and that has been slightly lost in the last stages and that has made the rent not even higher. But the Al-Attiyah Dakar is practically doomed, if at all.

Al-Attiyah has reached the finish line at 6:16 in Newfoundland, but it is that Loeb, who was the second to start, has paid for it by losing until 21:31 with your teammate. A quarter of an hour delay that leaves him 50 minutes from Al-Attiyah. Loeb can only wait for a drama in the Toyota.

Al Attiyah Dakar 2022

If the stage has been won by Terranova, Prodrive’s third sword, second position has been for Audi’s third sword. Mattias Ekström has touched his first stage victory in what, in general, is being a very promising Dakar for his part. Finally he has remained only 1:06 behind the Argentine.

Third place for Yazeed Al-Rajhi with the Toyota of Overdrive, who placed second overall, while Nani Roma finished the stage fifth, 3:34 behind his partner Terranova. Henk Lategan has shown that opening the track today was no gift: he lost at the finish line 24:20 compared to the winner of the stage, Terranova.

Esteve Dakar 2022

Those who will benefit from the break are the two Audi star drivers. So much Stéphane Peterhansel and Carlos Sainz accumulated more than three quarters of an hour late todayThe shock absorbers and the rear suspensions of that heavy Audi hybrid are being a headache throughout the Dakar.

Now comes the rest stage and we will see what happens to the rest of the Dakar. Terrorist threat cancellation option is very real, so the results would be invalidated and the toughest rally in the world would enter a crisis even more profound than the one that already took it out of Africa in 2008.
